The senior academic authority, responsible for curriculum, standards and academic policy.
Purpose
The Academic Board (Senate) is the principal academic authority of the University, responsible for the regulation and oversight of teaching, learning, scholarship and research.
Key responsibilities
- Approve new programmes, curriculum changes and academic regulations.
- Set and uphold academic standards, assessment policy and award classifications.
- Oversee scholarship, research integrity and academic quality enhancement.
- Advise Council on academic strategy and resource priorities.
Composition
The President (Chair), Deputy Presidents, Deans, elected academic staff, professional service heads and student representatives.
Meets
At least once per semester.
