TALI students learn together — in seminars, peer circles and informal Friday gatherings. Even online learners are part of the cohort, and we design rhythms that keep that real.

Weekly Graduate Seminar

Every Thursday in semester, one TALI candidate presents work-in-progress to peers and faculty. Required for research-track candidates; open to everyone.

Writing & methods clinics

Drop-in sessions led by senior faculty on literature reviews, research design, statistical computing and academic writing.

Peer learning circles

Small, cross-disciplinary groups of 4–6 candidates that meet fortnightly for accountability and feedback on each other's work.

Pastoral care & wellbeing

Confidential counselling through the University's Pastoral Care Centre. Postgraduate study is hard; you do not have to do it alone.

Conference travel grants

Small grants to support attendance at peer-reviewed conferences where candidates are presenting their own work.

Postgraduate Students' Association

Elected body that represents postgraduate students on the Board of Graduate Studies and organises social events across cohorts.

Beyond the seminar room

Graduate study at Southshore is shaped by the wider life of the University College — its chapel and pastoral programme, its commitment to community engagement, and a culture that takes seriously the formation of the whole person, not just the academic. TALI students are full members of the University College and have access to the library, sports and chapel facilities on the same terms as undergraduates.
