Purpose

The Appointments & Promotions Committee ensures that all senior academic and professional appointments and promotions are made fairly, transparently and in accordance with the University's strategic priorities and equality commitments.

Key responsibilities

  • Approve senior academic and professional appointments and promotions.
  • Oversee tenure and probation reviews for senior staff.
  • Ensure compliance with equal opportunity and diversity standards in recruitment and progression.
  • Advise Council and Executive Management on staffing strategy and succession planning.

Composition

A senior independent Chair, the President or nominee, Deputy Presidents, faculty Deans, an external assessor and a human resources director.

Meets

Monthly, with ad-hoc panels convened for individual cases.
