Strategic body that drives research priorities, innovation partnerships and upholds the highest standards of research ethics and integrity.
Purpose
The Research, Ethics & Innovation Committee sets the University's research strategy, fosters innovation and enterprise, and ensures all research meets the highest standards of ethics, integrity and participant protection.
Key responsibilities
- Define research priorities, themes and investment areas for the University.
- Oversee research grants, contracts and intellectual property policy.
- Foster industry partnerships, spin-outs, knowledge exchange and commercialisation pathways.
- Review and approve research protocols involving human participants, animals or sensitive data.
- Maintain the University's Research Integrity and Misconduct policies.
- Provide training and guidance to researchers, students and supervisors on ethical practice.
- Investigate allegations of research misconduct in line with national codes.
- Report annually on research performance, impact, income and ethical compliance.
Composition
Deputy President (Research) as Chair, senior academics, faculty research leads, the Director of Innovation, a lay member, a legal advisor, external industry advisors and a student researcher representative.
Meets
Monthly for ethics and operational business; quarterly for strategic planning and performance review.
